KHUJNAD, April 12, 2013 Asia-Plus -- Two officers from the military and enlistment office in the northern city of Istaravshan have been detained for bribery.
According to the Interior Ministry’s office fro Sughd province, they demanded US$2,000 from two local residents for issuing draft cards and exempting them from military service.
They were reportedly caught red-handed on Thursday (April 11) when they were taking bribe.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the corrupt recruitment officers under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 32 (3) – preparation of a crime or criminal attempt; and Article 319 (4) – bribery. An investigation is under way.
