DUSHANBE, May 12, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Police officers have conducted search of home of Zayd Saidov, leader of the Initiative Group for formation of the Tojikistoni Nav (New Tajikistan) Party.
Zayd Saidov’s son, Khairullo Saidov, says investigators from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) searched their home Saturday afternoon.
Zayd Saidov, who is the president of the Table Tennis Federation of Tajikistan, is currently outside Tajikistan for attending an international table tennis tournament.
We will recall that the Initiative Group says threats have allegedly been made against the Group leader Zayd Saidov.
“Today, Zayd Saidov was summoned to the law enforcement agency,” Mahmoudjon Qosimov, the member of the initiative group, told journalists in Dushanbe on May 10. He, however, did not specify what Zayd Saidov was summoned to the law enforcement agency for. He just noted that threats had been made against Zayd Saidov.
Zayd Saidov, 55, graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Tajik National University in 1983. In 1993-1999, he was director-general of the Moscow-based Joint-Stock Company (JSC) Khalif. From 1999 to 2006, Zayd Saidov served as Minister of Industry of Tajikistan. From 2007 up to now, Zayd Saidov is Chairman of the Association of Entrepreneurs and Producers of Tajikistan.
Zayd Saidov has headed the Table Tennis Federation of Tajikistan since 2007.
