DUSHANBE, July 18, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Two cases involving foreign companies have been considered in the Higher Economic Court (HEC) of Tajikistan over the first six months of this year, HEC chairman Naim Mansourov told reporters in Dushanbe on July 18.
According to him, the Higher Economic Court has considered and thrown down a lawsuit filed by Tajik-Kyrgyz JV Takom Gold against Chinese Investment and Development Corporation, Jian Ltd, over termination of a commercial contract between them.
The Higher Economic Court has also considered and thrown down a lawsuit filed by the Sate Unitary Enterprise Beltrans (Minsk) against private entrepreneur Rajabov. “Beltrans filed the lawsuit in the Higher Economic Court, asking to exact more than 2.2 million USD from Rajabov,” Mansourov said.
According to him, the Higher Economic Court of Tajikistan is currently considering three other cases involving foreign companies.
Thus, limited liability company Venstranstroy (Moscow) has filed lawsuit against OJSC Sangtudinskaya GES-1, asking to exact more than 565 million from it.
Tajik-Russian JV Tekhenergokompleks has filed lawsuit against Russian limited liability companies Torgovy Dom Maniyevskiy and Proekt, asking to exact some 283,000 U.S. dollars from them.
OJSC Mezhregionalny Transit Telecom (Moscow) has filed lawsuit against Tajik Internet Service Provider Saturn-Online, asking to exact more than 2.7 million U.S. dollars from it.
“Besides, the Higher Economic Court has sent to Dushanbe’s Economic Court a statement of claim filed by accredited representative of Orienbonk head Hasan Asadullozoda against Kyrgyz national Shcherbakov and Tajik-Kyrgyz JV Takom Gold,” HEC chairman added.
The main jurisdiction of the Dushanbe-based Higher Economic Court of Tajikistan is dealing with economic, enterprise and monetary disputes between the national government and local governments or citizens.
