DUSHANBE, September 26, Asia-Plus – The Supreme Court of Tajikistan has adjourned the passing of sentence on the persons, who are charged with robbing the house of Deputy Prime Minister Murodali Alimardon in the Hisor district in June 2005.
The sentence on them was supposed to be passed today but Shodi Kholov, secretary of the Supreme Court, said today afternoon that the passing of the sentence has been adjourned for an indefinite period. He refrained from giving further details.
We will recall that three armed persons in camouflage reportedly broke into the house of Murodali Alimardon in June 2005 (at that time Alimardon was head of Tajikistan’s central bank), killing one guard and stealing cash and jewelry. The assailants took away the second guard who was protecting the house; a few hours later he was found tied in the stolen car.
Murodali Alimardon was not at home when the robbery occurred.
According the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the assailants seized 7,000.00 U.S. dollars and 500.00 somoni as well as jewelry.
Umed Nasrididnov, Zayniddin Samadov and Dilshod Mirzoyev were arrested on suspicion of committing that robbery.
Criminal proceedings were instituted against them under the provisions of five articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 104 – murder; Article 130 – abduction of persons; Article 195 – illegal possession of weapons; Article 249 – robbery; and Article 254 – property embezzlement.
