KHUJAND, October 17, 2013, Asia-Plus -- 2,153 customs-related crimes have been reported in Sughd province in January-September this year, according to the Statistics Agency’s office in Sughd.
The majority of the customs-related crimes have been reported in the Spitamen district – 398 cases, in the Mastchoh district -- 162 cases, in the Jabborrasoulov district – 127 cases, and in the city of Khujand – 282 cases.
In January-September, seven criminal proceedings have been instituted for violation of customs rules, three criminal proceedings have been instituted for drug smuggling, and two criminal proceedings have been instituted for smuggling of consumer goods.
Over the same nine-month period, violators of customs rules have been fined a total of 2,364.40 somoni.
