KHUJAND, December 5, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Police officer from the northern province of Sughd has been arrested on suspicion of having involved in drug trafficking.
The incident was aired by the Sughd regional television station. Honda Accord, belonging to Militsiya (Police) Captain M.H., was stopped by officers from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office for Sughd in the Shahriston district. 11.672 kilograms of hashish were reportedly found hidden in the car.
Besides, two residents of the Jabborrasoulov district and one national of neighboring Kyrgyzstan were detained in that operation.
According to the statistical data from the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office in Sughd, 835.672 kilograms of narcotics have been seized in the province over the first nine months of this year, which was 380 kilograms more than in the same period last year. A totaled reportedly included more than 154 kilograms of heroin, more than 533 kilograms of hashish and more than 127 kilograms of raw opium.
