DUSHNBE, February 11, 2014, Asia-Plus – Oyatullo Saidov, the foster son of former First Deputy Interior Minister Nourullo Oripov, will stand trial on fraud charges.
Mavloudkhon Solehov, the head of legal office in Dushanbe’s Ismoili Somoni district, says criminal proceedings have been instituted against Saidov under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 247 (2) – fraud committed repeatedly by a group of persons in collusion; and Article 339 (2) – stealing, concealing or damaging office documents and stamps for a profit.
According to him, the 35-year-old resident of the Vahdat Township, Oyatullo Saidov, has six previous fraud convictions.
“In many cases, Saidov used the name of his foster father in order to gain confidence of people,” Solehov noted.
“One of such cases occurred in May 2013, when Oyatullo Saidov promised Ibodullo Kholov to send his parents to the Hajj and he took 8,200 U.S. dollars from Kholov for this. By the same means, Saidov collected money from 15 residents of Dushanbe’s Avul neighborhood and escaped,” Solehov said.
The trial is scheduled for February 17.
