KHUJAND, February 24 2014, Asia-Plus -- B.F., an officer at the military registration and enlistment office in the northern city of Istiqlol (formerly Taboshar), has been detained on suspicion of taking bribe.
An official source at the anticorruption agency’s office in Sughd province says B.F. was caught red-handed at the end of last week while taking 18,500 Russian rubles (RR) from local resident for exempting him from the military service.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the corrupt recruitment officer under the provisions of Article 247 (3) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – large-scale fraud; an investigation is under way.
According to the data from the anticorruption agency’s office in Sughd province, 78 cases of fraud were reported in the province last year.
