DUSHANBE, June 4, 2014, Asia-Plus -- A disagreement that sparked between two senior school students during an online discussion on the popular Odnoklassniki.ru social network led to a deadly attack in Dushanbe and the 17-year-old Bobojon Homidov, who is the main accused in the murder of school student Buhromiddin Zaripov, is currently giving confession testimony.
“Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Bobojon Homidov under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 110 (3) – intentional infliction of serious injury to health; and Article 237 (3) – hooliganism,” the head of the investigation department of the Interior Ministry’s office in Dushanbe, Colonel Bahriddin Davlatbekov, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
The 11th-grade student at secondary school # 66, Buhromididn Zaripov, was stabbed to death by the 17-year-old Bobojon Homidov, in Dushanbe’ neighborhood 91 on May 30.
According to Colonel Davlatbekov, the attack took place after Zaripov and Homidov , who had not known each other, had been arguing about the lead on the social network.
The Interior Ministry’s website reports that nine school students aged 17 to 18 and 19-year-old resident of Dushanbe, Bahrullo Asoyev, were detained over this incident.
According to a source at the Ministry of Education and Science (MoES), Minister of Education and Science Nouriddin Saidov on June 2 visited School # 66, where they spoke about the incident with teachers and students.
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry reported today that two other persons – Farhod Raufov, 18, and Bahodur Rahimov, 20 – have also been detained over this incident. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against them and an investigation is under way.
According to data from the Interior Ministry’s office in Dushanbe, eleven fights between minors have been registered in the city since the beginning of the year, including three cases involving use of knives.
