Faridun Umarov, the former Head of the Anti-Drug Department of Farkhar Police, convicted to 12 years in prison for involvement in drug trafficking, who is also the brother of the Deputy Head of the National Security Committee, Mansour Umarov, was released on parole.
According to the information obtained by Asia-Plus in the Sino District court in Dushanbe, he was released at the end of last week. According to the source, based on the latest amnesty, Mr. Umarov’s term was reduced by half, and due to good conduct, he will spend the remaining seven months in freedom. Meanwhile, he must visit the local police office and go through police procedures every month.
On 7 August 2012, Sino District court in Dushanbe convicted Faridun Umarov, known as “Panther”, who is also the brother of Mansour Umarov, the Deputy Head of the National Security Committee, to seven years in prison for drug trafficking.
