DUSHANBE, November 24, 2014, Asia-Plus – The twentieth session of the Dushanbe legislature (Majlis) that took place on November 21 made a decision on early termination of the powers of the jailed tycoon Zayd Saidov, who had been member of the Dushanbe legislature since February 2010.
We will recall that Tajikistan canceled parliamentary immunity for members of regional, city and district legislatures on June 13, 2013.
Former Ministry of Industry Zayd Saidov was sentenced to 26 years'' imprisonment on December 25, 2013 after being convicted of financial fraud, polygamy, and sexual relations with a minor.
Zayd Saidov maintains innocence and his supporters say the case against Zayd Saidov was politically motivated.
