DUSHANBE, April 16, 2015, Asia-Plus – Two have been arrested in Dushanbe on suspicion of selling a newborn baby.
The Interior Ministry’s website reports two residents of Dushanbe, the 28-year-old man and the 24-year-old woman, were detained on April 15 on suspicion of involvement in buying and selling of minors.
The preliminary investigation has reportedly established that the detainees in June 2013 sold their newborn baby to the 41-year-old woman for the northern city of Chkalovsk for 5,300 somoni.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way, the website says.
