DUSHANBE, September 29, 2015, Asia-Plus – The Tajik authorities have accused lawyer Buzurgmehr Yorov of a large-scale fraud.
According to information posted on the interior Ministry’s website, Yorov in July 2010 took 4,000 U.S. dollars from Komiljon Bozorov, resident of the northern city of Istaravshan, promising to release from responsibility his son Dilshod Bozorov, who is charged with murder.
Buzurgmehr Yorov is reportedly also charged with forging the motor vehicle registration card.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Yorov under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 140 – fraud; and Article 340 – document forgery.
Meanwhile, Yorov’s colleagues consider that the detention of Buzurgmehr Yorov is politically motivated, because he has agreed to represent activists of the Islamic Revival Party who were arrested in Dushanbe on September 16.
