In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, the chief of the Interior Ministry Organized Crime Control Directorate Shodi Hafizzoda revealed on February 15 that 86 human trafficking related crimes were registered in Tajikistan last year.
According to him, the number of crimes related to trafficking in persons for prostitution has increased in the country.
“Twenty-four crimes related to trafficking in women for prostitution were registered in Tajikistan last year, which is 14 cases more compared to the previous year of 2021,”
Besides, nine child-selling cases were registered in the country last year, Hafizzoda noted.
“Criminal proceedings over 53 cases of illegal organization of labor migration, primarily to Russia, were instituted last year, which is 23 cases more than in the previous year,” the Organized Crime Control Directorate chief added.
