Criminal proceedings have been instituted against director and chief accountant of Sipar Com housebuilder, who are charged with evading paying taxes in the amount of more than 13 million somonis (nearly 1.2 million US dollars), says the press center for the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption under the President of Tajikistan.  

Sipar Com has been building multi-story apartment buildings in Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe. One of its most famous projects is a housing complex on Karamov Street in the northern part of Dushanbe,  not far from the Botanical Gardens and the road to the Varzob Gorge. 

According to the anticorruption agency, Sipar Com director A. Sattorov and its chief accountant H. Muminov are charged with evading paying taxes in the amount of 8,877,911 somonis from April 1, 2021 to April 1, 2023.   

“Taking into account fines and penalties, this amount amounted to 13,389,9317 somonis,” the anticorruption agency noted.  

Criminal proceedings against Sattorov and Muminov have been instituted under the provisions of Article 292 (2) of Tajikistan’s Pena Code -- large-scale tax evasion; an investigation is under way.  

Article 292 (2) stipulates that large-scale tax evasion is punishable by a fine in the amount of 912 to 1460 calculating indicators (current calculating indicator amounts to 72.00 somonis ) or by imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.   

Sipar Com housebuilder has been engaged in constructing multi-story apartment buildings since 2019, primarily in Dushanbe.
