DUSHANBE, January 29, 2011, Asia-Plus -- On January 28, the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk hosted a regular meeting of the Council of Plenipotentiary Permanent Representatives of CIS nations.
According to the CIS Executive Committee press service, the meeting, presided over by Qozidavlat Qoimdodov, Tajikistan’s Plenipotentiary Permanent Representative to the CIS bodies, discussed issues related to cooperation between the CIS nations in the fields of energy, transportation, labor migration, environmental protection and the fight against new challenges and threats to security, as well as humanitarian cooperation.
The meeting participants also considered activity of the council of heads of the national news agencies of the CIS member nations.
Mr. Qoimdodov, in particular noted that the major challenge for the CIS is to inform the public of the integration processes taking place within the CIS area. One of the most significant media projects which serves this aim is the modern site Ania (www.ania-news.info), created in 2010 in order to highlight the everyday activities of the CIS countries.
At the meeting the year 2011 was declared the year of food safety within the CIS area.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of a new version of a unified register of legal acts and other documents of the CIS. It will be available to all the internet users at the site of the CIS Executive Committee in the near future.
