DUSHANBE, February 27, 2011, Asia-Plus -- During a meeting with Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi here on February 25, the British Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Trevor Moore, noted that report released by some media that the British Government intends to cut financial aid to Tajikistan is not true to fact and the aid will continue to be awarded at the same level, the Tajik MFA information department said.
In the course of the talks, the sides also discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom, regional cooperation, the British Government’s assessment of bilateral government assistance as well as issues related to further cooperation between the Government of Tajikistan and the UK Department for International Development (DFID).
Zarifi and Moore exchanged views on ways of improvement of investment climate and expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the Tajikistan and the United Kingdom, the source said.
DFID Country Representative for Tajikistan, Mr. Desmond Curran, also attended the meeting.
