DUSHANBE, March 14, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Representatives of the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) consider that an intention of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDPT) to launch its official radio station in the near future is a good sign.
The IRP deputy chairman Mahmadali Hoit remarked this in an interview with Asia-Plus Monday afternoon. According to him, the launch of PDP’s radio station will give the green light to other political parties for getting licenses to launch their TV and radio stations.
“Our party has been waiting for already four year for a frequency license to launch its TV and radio channel but the appropriate government bodies have refused our application for the license under various pretext,” Hoit said, noting that the IRP has enough personnel and financial resources to launch its own TV and radio channel.
“According to our estimates, our television and radio channel could become self-supporting within a short space of time,” the IRP official stressed.
We will recall that the PDP public relations department head Usmon Solehov told Asia-Plus on March 7 that the PDP plans to launch its official radio station in the near future. “The radio station is expected to go on the air during this month,” said he, “At first, the radio station will broadcast for Dushanbe and nearby districts and gradually, its broadcast will be expanded to cover the whole country.” The radio station will run party’s news, broadcast literary programs and play music, Solehov added.
