DUSHANBE, April 14, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi yesterday received Mr. Alexander Zouev, new UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, they considered state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation of Tajikistan with the United Nations and its agencies active in the country.
Tajik minister highly appraised contribution made by the UN agencies such as UNDP, UNICEF, UNHCR, FAO and others to development of economy, alleviation of poverty and settlement of food crisis problems in Tajikistan.
The two also discussed a general situation in the region and cooperation and partnership between the countries of the region on a broad range of issues, including Afghanistan, the source said.
