DUSHANBE, July 6, 2011, Asia-Plus -- The Tajik MFA information department reports that during visit to the Arvand Free Economic Zone in Iran’s Khuzestan province, Tajik Ambassador to Iran Davlatali Hotamov said in an interview with Iran’ biweekly Aghaz that Tajikistan and Iran could expand bilateral cooperation in the fields of construction and air communication.
Tajik ambassador also briefed on state and prospects of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran and answered questions about bilateral cooperation between the two countries in sectors like industry, tourism and culture. Hotamov, in particular, dwelled on construction of roads, training of personnel for Tajikistan abroad and achievement obtained by Tajikistan over the years of independence, the source said.
In the meantime, Azhaz reported that 50 ambassadors had visited the Arvand Free Economic Zone. The ambassadors visited different industrial enterprises, ports and projects in the region. The group also paid visit to potentials and historical attractions of Khuzestan province.
The Arvand Free Zone is a 155 square kilometer industrial and security zone that surrounds Khorramshahr, Abadan, and Minoo Island along the Arvand waterway (known as Shatt al-Arab in Iraq) in Iran’s Khuzestan province.
