DUSHANBE, August 4, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi who was on a two-day working visit to Turkmenistan yesterday met in Ashgabat with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov.
According to Turkmen media outlets, Tajik minister expressed gratitude for cordial welcome and noted that Tajikistan attaches significance to expansion of a full-scale cooperation with fraternal Turkmenistan.
Turkmen leader, for his part, noted that Turkmen people have always valued relations with its nearest neighbors and pointed out a positive character of partnership that determines to a large extent favorable political and economic climate in the region.
In the course of the talks, the sides exchanged views on state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.
Tajik foreign minister, in particular, noted that Tajikistan highly appraises peaceful policy conducted by Turkmenistan and significant international initiatives suggested by Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov for strengthening of peace, Turkmen media outlets report.
Tajik Ambassador to Turkmenistan Abdurahim Ashour attended the meeting.
