Leader of the Islamic Renaissance party of Tajikistan (IRPT) Muhiddin Kabiri met yesterday with Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Yuri Popov in Dushanbe.
According to IRPT’s press service, the sides have discussed the program, goals and prospects of the party and talked about opportunities to expand cultural and spiritual ties between IRPT and Russian Muslims.
They agreed that strengthening of cultural and spiritual ties will contribute to further strengthening of friendly relations between the two nations.
It has also been noted that cooperation between moderate organizations, which operate in accordance with the law, contributes to prevention of extremism and nationalist feelings in both Russia and Tajikistan.
At the same time, the day before IRPT leader met with US Ambassador to Tajikistan Ken Gross.
According to IRPT, the sides met to discuss the party’s activity and current situation in the republic and in the region. They also talked about current condition of religious and political freedoms in Tajikistan and the Government’s attitude to political parties.
