In his Annual Message to the Parliament President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon offered to ban any type of audits of national producers for a period of three years.

“We should free our producers from unreasonable audits which slow down the development of national production,” Tajik President said.

President Rahmon also suggested to improve banking sector. He said in early 90ies Tajik Ministry of Interior had a special unit to deal with economic crimes, which hindered money inflow to the republic. This unit was famous for its frequent offences and businessmen preferred not to transfer money through banking system, he said.

“Following my personal decision to abolish this unit, the situation has significantly improved. Those years money transfers were at the level of $9mln while today this volume reached almost $4bln,” President said.

Tajik President criticized Tajikstandart, which, he said, has neither specific equipment, nor experts to carry out high-quality audits, but despite this fact they conduct frequent and unreasonable audits.

President Rahmon cited audit in TajikAir company as an example, saying that having neither specific air equipment nor experts in this field, the organization tried to ban the use of a newly purchased air jet.

In his message Rahmon said that the main goal of the state is to improve living standards and ensure sustainable economic development through implementation of socio-economic projects. President Rahmon offered a 2.5-fold increase in minimum wage, which currently makes 80 Somoni (some $17 USD).

Talking about the poverty level in the country, President said that poverty rate has reduced down to 42% as compared to 81% rate in 2011. Population income has increased from 1bln up to 16.2bln Somoni in the reporting period, he said.

President Rahmon said that the number of new vehicles imported to the republic reflects the improved welfare level of the population. “During 70 years of Soviet governance only 73.000 vehicles were imported to Tajikistan, while in the past 5 years the population acquired 70.000 vehicles. If this tendency continues, every family in Tajikistan will have a car in the future,” President added.
