In the course of his official visit to Moscow Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to discuss development of many-sided bilateral relations.
Russian President expressed his satisfaction over current level of development of mutual relations between the two countries and stressed that currently 70 entities of Russia cooperate with Tajikistan’s regions, President’s press service told AP.
President Rahmon said Russia and Tajikistan have no unsolved problems. “There are only some issues we need to solve taking into account the interests of the two sides,” Rahmon said.
He stressed that Tajikistan respects the interests of its strategic partner and urged Russia to do the same regarding the interests of Tajikistan. Vladimir Putin assured that “It will be so,” Tajik President’s press service reports.
Heads of states ordered related structures to carry out a regular session of the intergovernmental commission for cooperation in trade and economic sphere.
Special attention will be given to cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia in such sectors as investments, oil and gas, hydropower energy, natural resources.
Leaders of the two countries also discussed development of military-to-military and technical cooperation, further dislocation of the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan.
