DUSHANBE, August 30, 2012, Asia-Plus -- State and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States were the focus of a meeting of Mr. Nouriddin Shamsov, Ambassador of Tajikistan to the United Nations with Mr. Robert O. Blake, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs that took place in Washington on August 27, the Tajik MFA information department reports.
In the course of the talks, Robert O. Blake reportedly noted that his country attached significant importance to development of relations with Tajikistan and stressed that Tajikistan played an important role in establishment of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
The sides also discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States in providing regional security, attraction of investments for development of Tajikistan’s economy, and providing support for Tajikistan’s admission to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the source said.
