DUSHANBE, October 11,2 012, Asia-Plus -- State and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey were a major topic of a meeting of Tajik Ambassador to Turkey Farrukh Sharipov with Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Fatih Ceylan that took place in Ankara on October 9.
The Tajik MFA information department reports the sides, in particular, discussed ways of further expansion of economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
On the same day, Ambassador Sharipov met with Dr. Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Foundation.
The two reportedly discussed issues related to the 16th Eurasian Economic Summit that will take place in Istanbul in April 2013. The Eurasian Economic Summit is the most prestigious and largest event in the nongovernmental arena in Turkey.
Established in Istanbul in 1985, the Marmara Group Foundation is a Turkish “public benefit group.” The group not only studies global issues such as the economy, administration, security and defense, but also examines these from regional perspectives, focusing on the EU, the Middle East, Asia, Cyprus, the Balkans and the Caucasus. It does so by preparing and implementing workshops and publishing papers with the support of its Academic Council. The Marmara Group seeks to develop public awareness with the aim of improving national and international relations and supporting the sustainable development of Turkey.
