DUSHANBE, November 17, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Experts from Central Asian states and Afghanistan, as well as representatives of the UN agencies and regional organizations will gather in Ashgabat on November 19-20 to discuss the application of the scenario approach to integrated water management in Central Asia.
This will be the final meeting in the framework of the project “Mutually Acceptable Mechanism on Integrated Use of Water Resources in Central Asia through Applying a Scenario Approach", which is implemented by the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) in collaboration with the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS), press release issued by UNRCCA said.
The purpose of the project is to make a thorough assessment of the water, energy and agriculture nexus in the Aral Sea Basin through the use of the scenario approach.
The meeting will complete the process of scenario development and will give the opportunity to conduct practical exercises for using the acquired skills.
