DUSHANBE, January 18, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Tajik and Russian foreign ministries have signed a cooperation program for 2013.
The document was inked by Tajik Foreign minister Hamrokhon Zarifi and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov here on January 17.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, the sides considered issues related to implementation of agreements that were reached during Russian president’s visit to Tajikistan in October of 2012 and exchanged views on economic, energy and humanitarian cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia.
Zarifi and Lavrov also discussed the border security issues, topical aspects of regional security and the current situation in Afghanistan.
The program on cooperation between MFAs of the two countries in 2013 reportedly provides for interaction between the two ministries on topical issues of bilateral cooperation and training of personnel for Tajikistan’s diplomatic service.
The sides are supposed to consider the issues of creating an institution at the Tajik MFA for training of national diplomatic personnel in the future, the source said.
