DUSHNBE, February 27, 2013, Asia-Plus -- The Agrarian Party of Tajikistan (APT) can lose one of its two seats in lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament.
The issue of early termination of parliamentary powers of APT representative, Rustam Latipov, has been tabled to the agenda of today’s sitting of the fourth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation.
We will recall that by president’s decree Rustam Latipov was appointed acting chairperson of the Vose district, Khatlon province.
Under the country’s legislation, Rustam Latipov should resign his seat in the Majlisi Namoyandagon.
Rustam Latipov was elected to the Majlisi Namoyandagon from Vose constituency. By-election in this constituency will be organized within three months after Latipov’s resignation.
We will recall that like the Communist Party (CPT) and the Islamic Revival Party (IRP), the APT currently has two seats in the Majlisi Namoyandagon.
Meanwhile, the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) now controls 45 seats in a 63-seat lower house of parliament and ten other seats are occupied by unaffiliated deputies.
