DUSHANBE, March 28, 2013, Asia-Plus – On Thursday March 28, Tajik President received visiting Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrisov.
According to the Tajik president’s official website, the sides discussed many-sided cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
Tajik leader, in particular, noted that bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan “is a good example of constructive regional cooperation.” Rahmon expressed confidence that friendly relations between the two countries would develop in the future as well.
Last year, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan valued at more than 700 million U.S. dollars, which was 150 percent more than in 2011.
The sides, however, noted that there was still considerable room for expansion of economic ties. They pointed to the necessity of intensifying activities of joint bodies for bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including the Kazakh-Tajik Direct Investment Fund.
Rahmon and Idrisov also considered issues related to establishment of a constructive cooperation on rational use of water-and-energy resources in the region and improvement of legal foundation of the labor migration cooperation between the two countries, the source said.
