DUSHANBE, June 5, 2013, Asia-Plus -- A delegation of Tajik ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), led by Davron Zohidov, the head of PDP’s organization for Sughd province, is in China on a working visit.
According to the head of the PDP Propagation and Analysis Center, Adham Mirsaidov, the delegation is visiting China within the framework of a cooperation agreement signed between the PDP and the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The main purpose of the visit is for the delegation to get acquainted with work of CPC primary organizations at industrial enterprises and farming units as well as in local governments.
“The PDP delegation has held an informal meeting with representatives of the Bureau of East European and Central Asian Affairs, International Department of CPC Central Committee,” said Mirsaidov. “The sides discussed issues related to expansion of cooperation between the two parties.”
We will recall that representatives of Tajik ruling party attended the 2013 special session of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) that took place in Xi’an, China on May 30-31.
Founded in 1993, the People’s Democratic Party is the largest political party in Tajikistan, boasting 210,000 registered members. Young people reportedly constitute 40 percent of the total number of the PDP members. President Emomali Rahmon is chairman of the party. The PDPT now controls some 65 percent of the seats in parliament (45 of 63 seats).
