DUSHANBE, June 17, 2013, Asia-Plus -- On Monday June 17, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon sent a message of congratulations to Hassan Rouhani on his election as the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In his congratulatory message, President Rahmon, in particular, said that Tajikistan attached significance to development of its relations with Iran and expressed hope for further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
Noting that Tajikistan and Iran share a common history, culture and language, President Rahmon wished peace and wellbeing to the people of Iran.
We will recall that Hassan Rouhani won the presidential election in the Islamic Republic of Iran that took place on June 14. 72% of 50 million eligible Iranians reportedly voted, and Rouhani won just over the 50% of the vote required to avoid a runoff.
