DUSHANBE, July 18, 013, Asia-Plus -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is expected to visit Tajikistan in the near future.
Local experts say that most likely he will attend an international high-level conference on water cooperation that will take place in Dushanbe next month.
Meanwhile, Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi stated at a news conference in Dushanbe yesterday that the new Iranian leadership will do its best in order to solve problem connected with Iran’s nuclear program. He suggested that the new Iranian leadership will visit Tajikistan before the end of this year to participate in one of international events.
We will recall that Hassan Rouhani won the presidential election in the Islamic Republic of Iran that took place on June 14. 72% of 50 million eligible Iranians reportedly voted, and Rouhani won just over the 50% of the vote required to avoid a runoff.
Tajik minister also noted that outgoing Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejat has done a lot over the past eight years to promote further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
On the Afghan problems, Zarifi said that the situation in Afghanistan would not change cardinally there after withdrawal of international troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
Touching upon Tajikistan’s relations with Uzbekistan, Zarifi noted that unfortunately they did not show upward trend.
“Relations of Tajikistan with China are stable and developing” said Tajik foreign minister. “There are no any problems in this sphere.”
