Adham Mirsaidov, the head of the PDP Propagation and Analysis Center says the conference took place in Dushanbe on July 25 and its participants, in particular, discussed issues related to the role of pluralism in development of society, strengthening of national independence as well as freedom of speech and human freedoms.
“Speaking at the conference, PDP first deputy head, Safar Safarov noted that all political forces of Tajikistan could unite with each other under the slogan of “Tajikistan Is Our Common Home” irrespective of their different views on ways of development of the country,” Mirsaidov said.
Founded in 1993, the People’s Democratic Party is the largest political party in Tajikistan, boasting more than 230,000 registered members. President Emomali Rahmon is chairman of the party. The PDPT now controls some 65 percent of the seats in parliament (45 of 63 seats).
