DUSHANBE, August 12, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Tajik ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a charitable act, dubbed “The Way to School.”
“The republican charitable act that kicked off on August 12 and will last until September 1 is aimed at helping orphaned children and children from vulnerable families prepare themselves for the new school year” Adham Mirsaidov, the head of the PDP Propagation and Analysis Center told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, the party organizations in the regions, districts and cities, involved in the act, will help provide orphans and children from vulnerable families with school uniforms, textbooks and other school accessories.
Founded in 1993, the People’s Democratic Party is the largest political party in Tajikistan, boasting more than 230,000 registered members. President Emomali Rahmon is chairman of the party. The PDP now controls some 65 percent of the seats in parliament (45 of 63 seats).
