President of Tajikistan, EmamaliRahman met with the Prime-Minister of Thailand, YingluckShinawatra, who arrived to Dushanbe on August 19 with an official visit.
According to the President’s press-service, development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between two countries were discussed.
First round of discussions were held in a small group and then with the delegations discussed trade and economic development, as well as investment cooperation, and the cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
It was decided that Tajikistan and Thailand have the same or close position in all the main global problems, and will cooperate in order to solve them. Both sides decided to open a direct air flight between Dushanbe and Bangkok in order to develop relations in the sphere of tourism.
Inter-governmental agreement was signed on cancellation of visas for those who have diplomatic, official, and service passports, and a joint statement was made.
Meanwhile, the Thai Premier also met with the Chair of the lower house of the Majlis , ShukurjanZuhourov. At the end of the day the guest will visit the National Museum of Antiquities of Tajikistan.
Today, August 20, the Thai Prime-Minister will take part in the opening ceremony of the high level International Water Cooperation Conference. On the same day she will meet with the Tajik Prime-Minister, AqilAqilov, in the government residence, after which she will depart home.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, relations between Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Thailand have been created on August 5, 1992.
Over eight legal documents, as well as joint statements between heads of governments have been signed between the two countries during visits.
According to the Statistics Agency under the President of Tajikistan, Tajik-Thai trade turnover last year was approximately $1.9 million, which increased by 50 percent in comparison with 2011.
