DUSHANBE, August 29, 2013, Asia-Plus - President of Tajikistan, Emamali Rahman, received the UN Representative for Afghanistan, Yan Kubis, on Thursday, 29 August.
According to the President’s press office, the current situation and development perspective of Afghanistan after coalition forces withdrawal, as well as international cooperation with this country, firstly in the UN frame, have been discussed during the meeting.
Mr. Rahman underlined that Tajikistan will continue to promote peace, socio-political stability, and economic recovery of Afghanistan.
It was mentioned that Tajikistan’s assistance is in the form of cooperation with Afghanistan''s security forces and law enforcement agencies, training, as well as in the implementation of economic fundamental projects, particularly supply of cheap electricity the neighboring country.
The parties expressed confidence that measures undertaken by Tajikistan and its other partners, such as laying of Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan railway, other roads, as well construction of transmission lines to Afghanistan and Pakistan, will be strongly supported by international institutions.
