DUSHANBE, September 18, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Incumbent President Emomali Rahmon has the best chance to win the upcoming presidential election that will take place on November 6, 2013, Sayfullo Safarov, the deputy director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan, told Asia-Plus in an interview today morning.
“Candidates contesting the poll against the incumbent president practically have no chance of winning,” a senior expert from Tajik think tank said.
According to him, the incumbent president enjoys authority over all regions of the country. “President Rahmon enjoys wide popularity among the population,” said Safarov. “His concern for the good of the country and the people has earned him immense prestige, and I am sure that his contenders do not have similar political weight.”
