DUSHANBE, September 27, 2013, Asia-Plus -- More than 130,000 signatures have reportedly been collected by September 27 to support the Agrarian Party of Tajikistan (APT) candidate, Tolibbek Bukhoriyev.
“Representatives of my campaign staff have not had any problems with collection of signatures,” Mr. Bukhoriyev told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, his draft program is already ready and it will be published after an appropriate correction.
Bukhoriyev’s program is reportedly focused on problems of enhancement of the country’s agrarian sector, development of food processing sector, and creation of new jobs in the country.
Mr. Bukhoriyev expressed confidence that his campaign staff and volunteers will be able to collect 210,000 signatures by the stipulated date (October 7).
Meanwhile representatives of Bukhoriyev’s campaign staff say: “We have collected more than 130,000 signatures by Friday and we hope to complete the registration requirements before October 2.”
Dr. Tolibbek Bukhoriyev is Vice-President of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan.
The Agrarian Party of Tajikistan was founded in 1995. The chief of the APT is Amir Qaroqulov. The Agrarian Party now has some 30,000 members. It won two seats in the 2010 parliamentary elections.
