DUSHANBE, October 24, 201, Asia-Plus -- Olim Salimzoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Committee on International Affairs, Public Associations and Information today received Rokas Bernotas, Lithuania’s Ambassador to Tajikistan.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two nations was a major topic of the meeting.
The two also discussed a broad range of issues related to economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Lithuania.
Salimzoda, in particular, outlined sectors like tourism, hydropower, and transportation, as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.
For his part, Ambassador Bernotas reportedly noted that Lithuania was interested in importing Tajik dried fruits and fruit-and-vegetable output.
“Ambassador Bernotas stressed that if Tajik fruits and vegetables are properly certified, Lithuania will help Tajikistan export them to the countries of the European Union,” Sultonov said.
