DUSHANBE, November 4, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) of Tajikistan, Shermuhammad Shohiyon, met here today with CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev, who heads of the CIS mission to monitor the 2013 presidential election in Tajikistan.
“The sides discussed issues related to preparations for the presidential election that will take place in Tajikistan on November 6,” an official source t the CCER told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, Lebedev reportedly stressed that the CIS mission to monitor the presidential election in Tajikistan is acting in compliance with Tajikistan’s legislation and the generally accepted rules and principles of international law to assess elections.
“Shohiyon noted that Tajikistan is ready to provide any necessary assistance to the CIS election observers within the framework of the national legislation,” the source noted.
We will recall that the CIS election observation mission that consists of 15 long-term and 179 short-term observers began its work in Tajikistan on October 11, 2013.
