DUSHANBE, November 19, Asia-Plus -- Tajik Communist Party leader Shodi Shabdolov, who is also member of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament, participated in the 15th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties (IMCWP) that took place in Lisbon, Portugal on November 8-10, 2013.

According to him, 75 parties from 63 countries participated in the meeting that was held under the motto “The deepening of the crisis of capitalism, the role of the working class and the communists’ tasks in the struggle for the workers and peoples’ rights.  Imperialism’s offensive, the realignment of forces at the international level, the national question, class emancipation and the struggle for socialism.”

In a statement delivered at the meeting, Shabdolov reportedly drew attention of the meeting participants to the fact that global crisis might give rise to fascism, religious extremism and terrorism in many countries.

“The countries that ignore requirements of left-wing forces and labor movements are doomed to failure.  This happened in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya,” said Shabdolov.  “Syria has withstood the pressure due to support of Russia, China and international working class.”

The Meeting in Lisbon reportedly analyzed, among other main aspects, the development of the international situation in the context of the deepening of the structural crisis of capitalism and of a complex process of realignment of forces at the international level, alerting to the great dangers deriving from imperialism’s offensive.

It stressed the importance of the struggle in defense of democratic freedoms, against the advance of the far right, against xenophobia and racism, against religious fanaticism and obscurantism, against anti-communism.
