DUSHANBE, February 22, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Tajik and Chinese foreign ministries held political consultations in Beijing on February 19, according of the Tajik MFA information department.

Tajik delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister, Nizomiddin Zohidov, and Chinese delegation was led by Cheng Guoping, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The sides reportedly discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China as well as cooperation between them within regional and international organizations.  They also discussed problems of providing regional security.

The meeting participants reportedly confirmed their readiness for further expansion of mutually beneficial multi-aspect cooperation and strengthening of strategic partnership between the two countries.

While in Beijing, Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister, Nizomiddin Zohidov, also held talks with Dmitry Mezintsev, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The two reportedly discussed issues of preparations for and holding of a series of important events, including a SCO summit that will take place in Dushanbe this year.
