DUSHANBE, March 3, 2014, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon sent a cable of condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping over a deadly knife attack in the southwestern Chinese city of Kunming.
In his message, Emomali Rahmon strongly condemned this crime, noting that this tragedy has demonstrated once again that the fight against terrorism is an important and joint task of the whole international community, the Tajik president’s official website reports.
Tajik president reportedly further noted that Tajikistan was ready to take efforts together with international community to eradicate this evil.
Emomali Rahmon also asked to convey his deep condolences to families and relatives of those killed in that terrorist attack.
Chinese national news agency, Xinhua, reports that an attack by knife-wielding men at a railway station in Kunming in south-west China has left at least 29 dead. Another 130 people were reportedly wounded in what the Chinese authorities said was an “organized, premeditated violent terrorist attack.”
Four suspects were shot dead, one arrested and other are being sought, Xinhua said.
According to Xinhua, the attack took place late on Saturday evening. Witnesses said that the men, who were mostly dressed in black, attacked people at random.
