DUSHANBE, March 13, 2014, Asia-Plus /Avaz Yuldoshev/ -- On Thursday March 13, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon received Russia’s Federation Council (Russia’s upper house of parliament) speaker Valentina Matviyenko.
According to the Tajik president’s official website, the sides discussed state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.
Rahmon and Matviyenko, in particular, discussed cooperation between the regions of the two countries.
Russian parliamentary speaker reportedly appreciated support provided by Tajikistan and its leader for the Russian language here.
On the same day, Valentina Matviyenko visited the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) and held talks with its speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says they sides discussed ways to expand parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, the problems of the study of the Russian language in Tajikistan, and the current situation in the region.
