DUSHANBE, March 27, 2014, Asia-Plus -- In a statement delivered at an international conference in Dushanbe, the first deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan, Tohir Khairulloyev, noted on March 27 that information wars have become one of the main levers to affect independence, security and welfare of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member nations.

“As a result of use of methods of information wars and the informational and psychological impact, a state system of some countries has changed,” said Khairulloyev.  “Such changes have taken place in the Middle East, the Caucasus and Eastern Europe and now in Ukraine.”

Tajik defense official notes that the SCTO member nations must take measures to counter “the informational and psychological terrorism.” 

The conference entitled “Problems of Security of Central Eurasia’s Nations under Conditions of Modern World Order: Trends and Approaches to Providing Stability” was organized by the Center for Geopolitical Studies at Russian-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU) under support of the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Secretariat.
