DUSHANBE, April 8, 2014, Asia-Plus – Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister, Nizomiddin Zohidov, yesterday met here with Mr. Henri Weber, a French politician and Member of the European Parliament for the north-west of France.
Ambassador of France to Tajikistan, Mr. Didier Leroy, also attended the meeting.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, the sides discussed a broad range of issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and France.
They also discussed regional cooperation, cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union as well as the current situation in Afghanistan, to the Tajik MFA information department said.
Mr. Weber is also expected to conduct a conference on history of the European construction at Bactria Cultural Center in Dushanbe today evening.
Henri Weber was born in Tajikistan, in the city of Khujand (Leninabad) Tajikistan from Jewish parents on June 23, 1944. His father was a watchmaker.
Mr. Weber was elected to the European Parliament in 2004 and 2009. He is a member of the Socialist Party (PS), which is part of the Party of European Socialists, and sits on the European Parliament''s Committee on Culture and Education. Mr. Weber is also a substitute for the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, a member of the delegation to the EU–Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, and a substitute for the delegation for relations with Japan.
