DUSHANBE, July 4, 2014, Asia-Plus /Avaz Yuldoshev/ - The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is continuing to build offices for its city and district organizations.
“On July 3, construction of offices for the PRDP organizations in Khatlon’s Qumsangir and Qubodiyon districts,” Usmon Soleh, the head of the PDP public relations department, told Asia-Plus in an interview Friday afternoon.
According to him, the estimated budget for construction of each of those two buildings is 300,000 somoni. “To-date, offices for the PDP organizations in five districts of the southern Khatlon province have been built,” said Solehov. “These offices have been built through hashar (community voluntary work) and due to money provided by the party activists and local businessmen.”
“The People’s Democratic Party intends to build offices for its organizations in all districts across the country,” Soleh said.
Founded in 1993, the People’s Democratic Party is the largest political party in Tajikistan, boasting more than 240,000 registered members. President Emomali Rahmon is chairman of the party. The PDP now controls more than 60 percent of the seats in parliament.
