DUSHANBE, August 5, 2014, Asia-Plus -- The Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) is starting training seminars for members of electoral commissions this month.
“Three teams will conduct seminars in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) districts subordinate to the center beginning on August 10,” Abdumannon Dodoyev, the head of the CCER’s office, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, the seminars will target potential members of the District Election Commissions (DECs) and the Precinct Election Commissions (PECs).
“The seminar participants will study amendments made to the instructions on the district election commissions and the precinct election commissions, candidates to the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament, procedure of consideration of complaints and applications, and constituencies for election of members of the upper house (Majlisi Milli) of parliament,” Dodoyev said.
Under Tajikistan’s election legislation, the date for parliamentary elections is established no later than 75 days before the end of the term of the parliament. The term of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) expires on February 28, 2015. Elections to the upper house (Majlisi Milli) of parliament will be carried out 25 days after elections to the Majlisi Namoyandagon.
