DUSHANBE, September 25, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Tajik President Emomali Rahmon was recognized yesterday in New York by the South-South Awards for his initiatives and valuable proposals on expansion of water cooperation, Subhiddin Muhiddinov, a senior consultant to the Tajik president’s press center, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda, who is currently in New York for participation in the 69th session of the UN General Assembly, received the recognition on behalf of President Emomali Rahmon.
The South-South Awards honor governments, organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing sustainable development in a bid to galvanize the international community in tackling climate change by affordable, creative and scalable solutions.
Xinhua news agency reports that the 2014 South-South Awards reception was co-organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the South-South Steering Committee for Sustainable Development, and the International Organization for South-South Cooperation and South-South News.
